You should be more honest about this. This is if you only make the required payments and if you own the house for the full term of the loan. This is not a common scenario. Also it does not factor in mortgage interest deduction, likely (but not guaranteed) appreciation and not paying rent. Making smart financial decisions requires taking a broad view not focusing in on one narrow aspect of your finances
