You don’t sound rude and you shouldn’t apologize for stating your opinion. And I agree with what you surmise as the authors intent. My point is that using an well known deceptive and manipulative show as a starting point for a conversation about real world issues is pointless at best and knowingly deceptive in its own right at worst
