Yes Engineers are held in high regard but “Deification” is really a stretch of a word to use. I’m sure this mostly refers to software and tech related engineering jobs. The thing is that engineers in these fields at this particular point in history are responsible for more rapid development of technology and economic expansion over the last 60 years than the 6000 years before.
