What difference does it make? You presumably brought them in for people to eat with the expectation that all of them could be eaten. The end result is the same.
If you wanted one for yourself you could have taken one at any time or just kept as many as you wanted for yourself. You made them!
I’m glad I don’t work with you. I’m sure you are a perfectly fine person but this is the kind of petty crap that people obsess over that makes no one but themselves miserable. It just shows a complete lack of perspective and maturity.
Because see what this really says about you is this…. You didn’t bring the muffins in to be genuinely nice and to share your baking with people in the office in an honest selfless and caring way. No you brought them in to illicit gratitude and to be noticed and thanked. You brought them in to “share” for your own selfish emotional reasons. It’s not real it’s not genuine and it’s manipulative. And when that recognition of your generosity failed to materialize because your muffins were still there at the end of the day your perspective changed and your true nature showed.
Next time try this. Leave them in the break room when no one is looking. Don’t take credit when asked. See how it feels to do something nice for people without needing recognition.
