Unless you are actually in “farm country” where they grow that particular produce AND it is in season, I’m not sure why anyone would believe that the produce is actually grown locally.

There are a few green house growers around but they will proudly tell you exactly how and where their produce is grown (they almost won’t shut up about it). If you have to ask, be suspicious. If they give vague answers, be very suspicious. If it’s out of season be super suspicious. If someone is trying to sell you locally grown coconuts in upstate Michigan…. Yeah those are surely grown just down road. Michigan is famous for its coconut plantations.
