This is one of those things that is considered “undemocratic” but that said it’s the kind of thing I view as necessary especially considering Russia’s penchant for involving itself in the domestic politics of other countries. There is also historic precedent going back to Ancient Rome. Even in the U.S. this wouldn’t be crazy if we were actually being actively invaded. Would I be in favor of it if someone like Trump was in office at the time? I wouldn’t care for it but all things being equal the constitution does allow for emergency powers in a myriad of ways and if the threat is large enough and serious enough I can see the reasoning. And this is the situation that Ukraine finds itself in.
