This is a nice delusion that people like to believe because it gives some kind of comfort that the universe is just, but it is really just historical survivorship bias.

The truth is that when a culture or ideology is destroyed by violence or even genocide it's gone. Period. The end. That this has happened in history far more than people even realize. When a people is wiped out there is no one left to remember they ever existed. There is no one who even cares to record the history. The reason we know this is that there are rare occasions where the dominate conquering group has recorded what it had done, (Rome/Carthage, Spanish/Aztecs) but even in those cases the culture and that ideology is permanently gone.

Thinking that cultures, peoples and ideologies cannot be wiped out because of some fundamental law of the universe is a dangerous belief.
