The Tyranny of Bad (Liberal) Ideas

Or why I increasingly detest liberal government legislation.

I live in Washington state, for the most part, I’m very comfortable with the liberal attitudes here. Some things that I take for granted, like being able to just vote by mail I cannot imagine having to give up if I ever moved. I kind of pity all the people who live in states that still make you actually go to a physical polling place.

Now policies like mail-in voting are “liberal” and Washington state has a lot of these kinds of policies. Some I think are very good; mail-in voting, decent unemployment benefits, legalized marijuana, support for public transportation, decent public schools, etc. But then there are others that just make me stop and think, “Who the f*** do these people think they are? What the f*** is the legislature thinking?” To be clear I am not a conservative and I haven’t considered myself a republican since GHWB.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that the Democrats hold a majority in both houses of the Washington state legislature. I voted for some of these idiots. (From the comfort of my own living room, thank you very much.) But I’m going to have to seriously consider if I will vote for Democrats. The problem is that I don’t want to actually vote for any Republicans either. Both parties at this point in time are complete piles of garbage. Albeit for different…
