That is completely ridiculous not very well thought out argument just provided to debunk a comment that called out the original authors missing knowledge by attempting to move the goalpost.
Allowing people to cast votes “on behalf” of others is not at all democratic. Additionally it is absurdly unworkable with just a basic examination. You can’t have one vote, one person …. Oh but if you have 5 kids you get to vote 5 times.
Which parent gets the extra vote? What if we don’t agree? Can that be negotiated as part of a divorce decree? If that becomes a negotiated part of a divorce isn’t that equivalent to selling a vote? Who gets to vote for children with no parents? What if a 15 year old doesn’t like the way their parents voted for them? How about a 12 year old or a 6 year old? Now not only are you not allowing them to participate in democracy you are actively forcing them to vote against their own wishes. 🤦
