Saving for retirement is pointless unless you’re going to live that long. I see far too many of my peers in their 40s and 50s that are obsessed with saving for retirement and don’t take advantage of the time they have today. This is why I have taken multiple mini retirements lasting anywhere from 3 to 18 months. Having had a sister and a paramour and several friends die before 40 proves to me that while you need to prepare yourself for your future needs you also need to take care of yourself to get there but even if you do one random accident or diagnosis can change your plans in an instant and then you won’t care about 20 or 30 years from now because for you that’s not goring to happen. Use the money you have to give yourself the life you enjoy now because retirement may never happen.
