Rejecting MAGA because America IS Great
A Message to Republicans, Independents, and Democrats to Stand Together
In just under one week, we will make a choice that will affect the lives of everyone in the nation and the world.
Here is the simple truth: everyone’s fed up. You’re fed up. I’m fed up. And at this point, it’s hard to blame anyone for feeling like the system isn’t working. But the stakes in 2024 are far too high to channel that frustration into just any vote. So, here’s an appeal for Republicans, MAGA supporters, Independents, and Democrats to consider what’s best for this country. This is a call for thinking long-term and hitting the reset switch on politics. It’s time to realize that we’re all being played by those in power who benefit from keeping us divided.
And while the rich dominate politics on both sides of the aisle, there is one and only one movement that is entirely controlled by them.
This isn’t a call for one party to win it all, but it is a call for the majority to end the MAGA movement. There is a straightforward way to do it…
Don’t vote for a single Republican, even if you are a Republican.
To Republicans
MAGA is not Republicanism.
Let’s get right to it: the MAGA movement isn’t the future of the Republican Party — it’s a serious detour. MAGA didn’t build the principles that have guided the GOP for decades, and it’s actively dismantling them. America’s role on the world stage, commitment to allies, and dedication to individual freedoms and the rule of law aren’t part of MAGA’s worldview. Instead, we see coziness with dictators and pronouncements to curtail individual liberties. None of this is classic Republicanism, and it is eroding the values that made the party resilient for generations.
Think of voting against MAGA like chemotherapy for the party. Yes, watching Republicans lose will be tough, and yes, it might even be painful in the short run, but the party will survive and come out healthier. Let’s be clear: this is NOT about embracing liberal ideals but restoring a coherent, grounded Republican vision. The Supreme Court is already securely conservative, so that is not a concern. So, make this election about telling the charlatans and conspiracy theorists of the MAGA movement that they don’t get to decide what the party stands for. So, if you’re still proud to call yourself a Republican, then vote in a way that reflects that pride — by helping the party purge the MAGA cancer.
Trump thinks he is entitled to your vote simply because you are a Republican. Prove him wrong. And if you can’t bring yourself to vote for a Democrat, don’t. Vote for a Libertarian, vote for an Independent or don’t cast a vote at all. And remember, your vote is secret, so when you walk out of that booth, you can tell your friends you voted however you like. You are not obligated to share the truth of how you voted with anyone.
To MAGA Supporters
The Contradiction in “Make America Great Again.”
Let’s talk about that slogan: “Make America Great Again.” Ironically, it’s one of the most pessimistic statements out there. At its core, it says America isn’t great now and hasn’t been for a while. But that’s just wrong. We are great. We are the greatest nation that has ever existed. This is why the entire idea of MAGA is offensive to the true patriots of this nation. But here’s the real kicker: MAGA’s concept of greatness is stuck in the past, idolizing eras led by presidents like Reagan or Bush. The catch? None of those leaders would recognize MAGA’s vision as their own.
Reagan built alliances and stood up to foreign dictators. He wouldn’t have been cozying up to Putin or Kim Jong Un. Neither he nor Bush would ever dream of leaving NATO or threaten to abandon our allies. Those are not Republican ideals; those are authoritarian fantasies.
Regan told the leader of Russia and the Soviet Empire, “Tear down this wall!” he would be appalled to know that a Republican candidate for president would be willing to hand over a sovereign democratic nation like Ukraine to a Russian dictator. And make no mistake about it, that is precisely what Trump plans to do in order to secure “peace” with his admired friend Putin. Do you want to live in a country that sold out its allies to obtain “peace”?
The America Regan, Busch, and even freaking Nixon admired didn’t look backward or aim to alienate — it pushed forward. The hard truth is this: the values that MAGA holds dear don’t align with the legacy it pretends to uphold. If you’re really in it for American greatness, then stop romanticizing a vision that goes against what made past Republican leaders successful. The America they saw as great looked forward and outward and led the world through cooperation.
If you’re a die-hard MAGA fan, you will do what you do. Nothing anyone can say will probably change your mind. (And you really should recognize that for the problem that it is. But that’s a “you” problem.) But if you are at all lukewarm on the movement, there is no harm in staying home or lying about who you did or did not vote for when you are in that voting booth alone.
To Independents
The Fallacy of Trump as an “Outsider.”
I get it — there’s this sense that voting for Trump is the ultimate way to stick it to the system. Here’s the thing, though: he’s as far from an outsider as you can get. He is a billionaire backed by some of the wealthiest people on the planet, including Elon Musk, one of the government's largest recipients of corporate welfare. These aren’t people who share your struggles. They are on the inside. They’re not sitting around worrying about health insurance or inflation. They benefit from the same system you’re frustrated with. Billionaires, the asset class that owns everything, care about inflation only because the more inflation there is, the more money they make. The more money they make off you, the people who work.
And who keeps stoking our frustration? MAGA-aligned voices in media have turned the division into a business model. Big businesses have taken every opportunity to raise prices. The Republican Speaker of the House, at a critical time, held up aid to Ukraine just to play politics over border security. That’s not a protest — it’s manipulation. And the kicker? MAGA has entirely co-opted the Republican Party, making it difficult even to consider voting Republican without feeling like you’re voting for chaos.
Wouldn’t it be nice if you had a real choice again? A landscape where not every conservative candidate is out to prove they are more extreme than the last? Remember that vice-presidential debate between JD Vance and Tim Walz? Wasn’t that nice? Wasn’t that a breath of fresh air? It was a debate about issues, not insults. There, we had two candidates disagreeing but sometimes agreeing with each other and being able to see each other’s points. Holy crap, wouldn’t it be nice if we could get back to something like that for all of politics. Away from lies and calls of “fake news.” Away from a party with candidates that think Jews control the weather and have “space lasers” and see conspiracies behind every rock. We could have normalcy again — if we’re willing to demand it. So, consider this election an opportunity to vote for the possibility of normal politics again.
And just like my call to Republicans, if you can’t bring yourself to vote for Harris and Walz, at least don’t vote for Trump and Vance. An empty ballot says just as much as one that is filled out, even more sometimes. No one is entitled to your vote simply because the parties have conspired only to give you two choices.
To Democrats
Show Up, Vote, and Engage with Compassion.
Democrats, here’s my simple message: fucking just show up and vote. But don’t stop there — reach out. Show some compassion. Stop acting like entitled asshats. For too long, the party has focused on coastal cities and major urban centers, overlooking the needs and struggles of Heartland America. Seriously what the fuck is wrong with the Democratic party. It’s time to get your heads out of your asses and realize that there is more to this nation than the east and the west coast. It’s time to make those connections and bridge those gaps. There’s more to this country than the blue spots on a map.
Everyone wants to feel heard and respected, and that will not happen by ignoring them until the election season rolls around. You must show that you care about all Americans, not just the ones who already agree with you. So, vote yes, but also engage in a way that demonstrates you’re invested in every community.
And remember, DNC, at the end of the day, ALL of this is your fault. Trump, MAGA, and a conservative Supreme Court all exist because you nominated HRC. What kind of morons are you. That was a huge fucking obvious mistake. She was a horrible candidate from day one. No one wants a dynasty; no one wants someone anointed or appointed by a small group. Own it, and stop nominating shitty candidates.
The truth is that America isn’t as divided as it seems — those in power just want us to believe we are. They benefit from the vitriol, the division, and the anger. Democrats are far, very far from perfect. But let’s take a moment and ask: Who is attacking the free press, lashing out at political opponents, and even going after late-night comedians? Who keeps the outrage going so that we stay distracted from our interests? The answer is Trump and the MAGA movement.
So, in 2024, let’s not vote out of anger. Let’s vote to restore a sense of unity, rationality, and stability. No matter where you fall on the political spectrum, we all deserve a government that reflects the best of America, not the worst.
There is one way to end the madness of the last decade and return to some kind of politics that is at least civil and orderly. Vote out the MAGA movement by voting out Republicans up and down the ticket. Make the party pay for the dalliance it has had with this movement. Purge it of MAGA just like a deadly poison or a virus.
As an independent, I, for one, would like the option of voting for a Republican candidate once again at some point in time instead of always feeling as if I have no choice but to vote for a Democrat because as long as MAGA infects the Republican party, I just can’t trust anyone in the party to do the right thing and uphold the rule of law and the democratic process and principals. The principles that are what actually make our country great.
If you feel there is someone who might benefit from reading this, send this to them. We’ve only got a few days left to prove to the rest of the world that we aren’t self-hating and that we still are and always have been the greatest beacon of liberty in the world and the greatest country that has ever existed.
