Oh yes there are certainly risks. I mean these have essentially all the same risks as any near-field tech like tap-to-pay credit cards. But on the other hand, these cars are often difficult to steal for other reasons. For example, My car cannot be started without a registered fob in the car (or as discussed a spoof), since it has a built in engine cut off it can’t be “hot wired”. It will also notify me if I forget to lock my doors and allow me to do so from my phone. I can also track its location at any time and secure it from my phone.

Besides for most cars that come with this feature it’s not optional. But there are often ways to disable certain features to make it more secure. For example in the system settings I can disable the tail gate from automatically unlock, I can configure if I want all doors to unlock or just the driver, I can set if I want the system to require me to push the button on the door handle or just use proximity, etc
