Just like mass school shootings in a society that glorifies guns and ignores mental health, I wouldn’t call this tragic so much as I would say it was foreseeable. So in that regard maybe it simply deserves the same level of patronizing “thoughts and prayers”

This is all overshadowed by the fact that every alternative option you set forth here has been co-opted by the unconstrained presence of big money in our social, political, and judicial systems.

People only take these kinds of actions when they feel powerless and like they have no other option to affect change.

So unless those who actually control those big money levers of power actually course correct we will see more of these kinds of things.

We are firmly in an era of oligarchs manipulating the masses to their own ends.
