Japan’s population problems are largely self induced by a government and culture that discourages immigration, yes having babies isn’t the only way to boost a country’s population, but that only works if you allow it. If Japan were to instead actually encourage immigration, as a highly desirable “western” country with low crime high wages and robust social safety net in the Asia pacific area they wouldn’t have a problem attracting immigrants from a wide range of countries.
