I’ve worked for over a half dozen early to mid stage startups and every single one has resulted in layoffs and downsizing when they couldn’t raise their next round or when all the pivots couldn’t find “market fit”. They can be good experiences but no one should ever consider equity as actual pay and ensure they are being fairly compensated with actual cash.
