I’ve seen dozen of pieces just like this and they all make the same mistake, failing to understand the command and control structure of both the Russian and US militaries. Putin alone cannot decide to just launch nuclear weapons. There is a chain of command and every link in that chain has to agree to mass murder and suicide for it to progress. There is no “red button” to press. There are people who take and give orders that have families and brains.
