I wouldn't think of them as your enemy. They are your fellow citizens. First step is empathy and understanding why people believe what they do and feel what they do. Only then can you really start to understand and persuade. Or understand under what circumstance they will change. The other part of that is to stop and take the time and question your own beliefs because maybe you're not 100% right either. I do this often as I have to remember my experience just like everyone else's is unique.
