I would be cautious about comparing how many Ukrainians live to how people in the US or other western countries live. The mode of living in Ukraine only mirrors western standards in large cities. A large part of the country does not live this way and in fact even younger generations that live in these cities ( in their 20s or early 30s ) remember times that were much harsher after the fall of the Soviet Union. Ukrainians are much more adept at surviving in harsh conditions with fewer resources than westerners on the average. (For example it is common that many rural homes in Ukraine do not have electricity.)
In the conflict in Ukraine the largest problem that the people face is not the inability to live with shortages or inability to access resources it is simply not knowing if you are going to get blown up when you go to the supermarket.
Oh and inflation, definitely inflation.
