I love love ground effect vehicles unfortunately they are incredibly unsafe and would be unreliable for commercial traffic. They basically combine all the worst aspects of ferries (unable to operate in rough seas, dealing with marine traffic) with the high speed lethality of low flying aircraft. Take off and landing is the most dangerous period of time for an aircraft precisely because it is close to the ground for a GEV this is its entire flight time. I would fly on one, once for sure but I don’t think I would role the dice as a regular form of transport.
