I agree it’s important for everyone to understand this but how is the employer supposed to do that beyond sharing the exact information they already did? They give every employee the same documents to read, if a person doesn’t understand them, there are plenty of knowledgable people to ask. HR and compensation reps love explaining this stuff. And they even go over this stuff in Day One orientation.
No one except you can possibly know what you don’t understand. It’s your responsibility to seek out and fill gaps in your knowledge. There is no shame in not understanding but it can only ever be your responsibility. How would they even do this, how would they “ensure” that employees understand the vesting schedule? Are they supposed to give everyone a test about RSUs and vesting schedules and you can only get hired if you pass?
I’m not trying to defend Amazon, it’s got plenty of negative things about it, but what I am saying is this, stop trying shift blame to someone else, and just accept this is your responsibility and you dropped the ball.
A clear glass window is completely transparent but no one can force you to look through it. A window does nothing if a person keeps their eyes closed.
