Entry-level positions have always been this way; it's not a new thing. I remember looking for a job 30 years ago and it was really the same. Hidden in this narrative is, as usual, a gen-z tendency to not accept responsibility for their own decisions, lack of motivation, and vastly unrealistic expectations.

I have two grown children in this age group; both have degrees in the same field. One had a job lined up before they left college because they were motivated and started working a part-time job long before graduation. The other, no part-time job, plays video games, and still lives with their mother.
