Dropbox does encrypt all data in transit and at rest but it does not use zero knowledge encryption so it it can be decrypted by Dropbox. This is why for certain data its a good idea to further encrypt the data useinf something like Veracrypt virtual disks. Even with proton I would still probably do the same.
