China is in no way prepared for an invasion of Taiwan. They won’t be ready for at least 4 years. Anything short of an invasion would be a needless and pointless provocation. Plus with the likely hood that the war in Ukraine will continue for years it’s more likely that China wishes to prolong the conflict as long as possible to both allow time to prepare for operations in Taiwan and to weaken Russia
