Battery powered trains are stupidest kind stupid. We already know how to electrify railways without carting around tons of extra dead weight. We’ve literally been doing this for over a century. Battery powered trains have very limited use cases where they would be better than rail electrification such as in switch yards.

Why do we live in the era when the answer to everything seems to be “stick a battery in it and make it electric”? This is just a bunch of people trying to drive screws in with a hammer because they want to sell you hammers. 🤦‍♂️
