Yes sure the mechanism is theoretically there but did you ever think why did HRC got the nomination over Sanders. It doesn’t work like that anymore. Conventions are just for show.

Think of this “Back in the day” was before the internet, cell phones, high-definition TV, the fall of the Soviet Union, reality TV, social networks, streaming services, school shootings, FOX “news”… (this list is kind of endless)

It was in every sense of the word and quite literally a different century.
